Sex Toy Cleaners Information and Advice

Using Sex Toy Cleaners

Sex toys are intended to be good clean fun and you should clean your toys after use. Particularly if you share them with others.

It is important to understand that uncleaned sex toys can transmit STD's and if you have any kind of vaginatis or other medical problem you can end up re-infecting yourself.

Sex toys will last a lot longer if they are maintained properly. Here are some things you need to know about sex toy use, care and maintenance:

If you share toys or use the same toy vaginally and anally, the most hygenic way is to use a condom. Using a condom prevents having to interrupt the fun to wash up and also will substantially reduce the risk of transmission of any germs.

Antibacterial soap and warm water is a sex toys cleaner. Any toy has come in contact with blood should be washed in antibacterial soap and water and then soaked in a solution of one part household bleach to nine parts water. Remember to rinse well in clear water afterwaards to remove any of the cleaning residue.

We sell toy cleaning solutions that have been specially formulated to kill all bacteria and germs but preserve the life of the toys and this is probably the best way to go.

Cyberskin - Each manufacturer has it's own trade name and it may be referred to as UR3 Ultra-Realistic, Jel-Lee or Futurotic Material. Cyberskin is extremely sensitive and should be cleaned following use with warm water and stored in a clean dry place. Be sure to read the manufacturers instruction on how to care for these products.

NEVER use a silicone based lubricant as it can cause the Cyberskin to deteriorate.

Silicone - Silicone is a very durable material so it can be easily cleaned with soap and water, boiling to disinfect will not harm it and it can even be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. Do make sure that the entire product is silicone and that it does not have any plastic parts. Anything that is on the device that is not silicone could be damaged and in this particular case a cleaning with soap and water will be all that you can do. WARNING!! Use of silicone based lubricants with silicone rubber products will result in permanent damage to the rubber. Use water or oil based lubricants only on these products.

Latex - It is important to know that latex can be severely damaged by anything that is oil or petroleum based. Use only water-based products with latex away from heat or direct sunlight.

Rubber - Firm, flexible, and often heavy, rubber sex toys are porous and often need more care to clean than other materials. Rubber sex toys should always be cleaned with mild soap and water.

Jelly - Sex toys can made of Jelly which is a translucent, soft and flexible substance that looks like it contains air bubbles. Jelly is a non-porous form of rubber that can be cleaned with mild soap and hot water.

Vinyl - Vinyl toys are light in weight and easy to clean. Vinyl products are non-porous and can be washed with mild soap and hot water.

Leather - Leather is a very difficult material to keep clean. To clean leather wipe down all of the surfaces with hydrogen peroxide and allow to dry. Follow this by using saddle soap for an additional cleaning followed by a leather conditioner to restore it back to its natural finish. The leather conditioner is an absolute must because without it the leather will begin to dry out and crack.
